Every home and business in Amarillo has sewer lines. These lines lead from your kitchen appliances, sinks and bathroom plumbing to a main sewage line. The main line is owned and maintained by the city in most cases. The waste from the main line is treated and disposed. While the city is responsible for the main line, you are responsible for the lines that directly serve your home or office. It’s a dirty job but somebody’s gotta do it. When your sewer line is in need of repair, it’s no laughing matter.

Video Inspection

We have to give credit where credit is due. Without the advent of miniature, high resolution cameras we wouldn’t be as efficient as we are today. Before video inspection was readily available, there was a lot of guess work involved in trying to pinpoint the source of the problem. With technology, we are able to see exactly where the line is clogged. In less than thirty minutes, we can run the camera down your sewer lines and show you on the monitor. Generally there are tree roots that have gradually permeated your pipes. At times there is an overabundance of waste. If you believe that you have a clogged line, contact us today for a complimentary video inspection.

Polyester Sock

There are a number of methods employed to unclog sewer lines.  Using an inflatable polyester sock that eventually hardens is one tried and true technique.  When the pipe that carries waste from your home or office to the main city line is beyond repair, the usual solution is to dig up those pipes and replace them.  If the area of defect is buried in the yard, it’s an easy fix.  All that is required is some labor and a little bit of patience.  When these pipes are located underneath your foundation, ingenuity is key.  With the polyester sock, we don’t need to jack up your foundation.  We can feed it directly into the injured pipe using compression.

Symptoms of Sewer Line Failure

Since sewer lines are hidden from everyday use, it can be difficult to discern what’s really happening.  You may be experiencing plumbing issues but are unaware of the problems brewing underneath your foundation and in your yard.  Listen for gurgling and hissing noises coming from your pipes.  That is an indication that something is trapped and air is trying to escape.  Noxious gases seeping into your home or office is a sign that your pipes are not operating a peak condition.  The final straw is a sewage backup in your home.  This is the absolute worst!  If you experience any of these symptoms, contact us right a way for a complimentary inspection.

Causes of Sewer Line Clogs

Most of the time we just need to take a look in the mirror to discover the source of the problem.  The most common causes of sewer clogs are excessive cooking grease, bathroom waste along with food and kitchen waste.  Tree roots are constantly searching for a water source to guarantee their survival.  Eventually, they make their way to your pipes because it intuitively knows that your pipes are a consistent water source.  Damaged and clogged main lines that are managed by the city can also pose a problem for home and business owners.  Excessive rainfall and flooding can contribute to sewer line clogs.  This rain water can penetrate your pipes and cause a backup in your home.
